DEHRADUN, 15 Mar: World Consumer Rights Day was observed, today, at the IRDT Auditorium, Survey Chowk, and was organised by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Uttarakhand.
The Chief Guest at the function was Balveer Prasad, Member of the State Commission, and the Guest of Honour was Veena Sharma, Member of the State Commission. The programme was presided over by Sushil Kumar, Secretary and Commissioner, Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection. Also present were Dr SK Kulsreshtha of Doon CAPS and his team members, as well as Brigadier KG Behl (Retd) of All India Consumer Council and his colleagues.
The seminar was attended by 170 students of Law College, Uttarakhand University, Dolphin College and Women’s ITI. Ayushi Ranjan and Rahul Kumar of Law College gave impressive speeches on Medical Negligence and online sales.
The seminar was conducted by Dr Suchismita Sengupta Pandey, Member Secretary, Food Security Commission, and was organised by Pradyumn Pangty, Dr MS Bishen, Joint Commissioner, and Nidhi Rawat, Dy Commissioner. Dr BM Sharma, National Award Winner in Science Excellence, delivered a captivating speech on Food Adulteration and Awareness.
Saurabh Tiwari and Anilesh David presented important views on Standardisation, while Shreyas Aggarwal of Government Law College, Mumbai, spoke on Consumer Awareness in the Education Sector. The seminar concluded on an optimistic note from Sushil Kumar highlighting the future endeavours in the field of consumer awareness and consciousness.
