129 students selected for Armed Forces to be felicitated

Dehradun, 13 Aug: The state government will felicitate 129 students who have passed various competitive exams organised by the Armed Forces. An award amount of Rs 64.50 lakhs has been approved under the special financial assistance scheme operated by the Higher Education Department. Under this scheme, each selected candidate will receive a monetary award of Rs 50,000.

Higher Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat has congratulated all the selected candidates and extended best wishes for their bright future. Rawat stated that the government has initiated a special financial assistance scheme under the Higher Education Department to encourage youth preparing for various competitive exams conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), State Public Service Commissions, and the Armed Forces. In the first half of the financial year 2024-25, 129 youths from the state who have been selected in various Armed Forces exams will be felicitated. The government has approved an award amount of Rs 64.50 lakhs for this purpose. A government order will be issued soon in this regard.

Dr Rawat mentioned that this year, 27 youths have been selected for NDA, 14 for INA, 27 for IMA, 31 for OTA, and 30 for the IAF. Each of these selected candidates will receive a cash prize of ₹50,000. The departmental officials have been directed to complete all preparations and honour the selected candidates promptly. The minister highlighted that this scheme has sparked new awareness and enthusiasm among the youth of the state towards competitive exams conducted by UPSC, State Public Service Commissions, and the Armed Forces. Each year, a large number of youths participate in these exams.
