Dehradun, 14 Oct: The government is all set to approve promotion of several PCS officers in the state soon. Sources claim that the promotion orders of 14 PCS officers may be issued before the Diwali festival. All these officers proposed to be promoted are from the 2017 batch of PCS. They will be promoted to the grade pay of Rs 6,600. In addition, some promotions are also likely in the PPS cadre.

It may be recalled that, recently, many PCS officers were promoted to the grade pay of Rs 7,600 from the grade pay of Rs 6,600, thus creating several vacancies in the grade pay of Rs 6,600. These vacancies are now to be filled through promotions. In September, the state government promoted a total of 10 PCS officers to the grade pay of Rs 7,600. Those promoted included Shyam Singh Rana, Kishan Singh Negi, Narayan Singh Nabyal, Anil Garbyal, Raja Abbas, Vivek Prakash, Awadhesh Kumar Singh, Vivek Rai, Pankaj Kumar Upadhyay, and Dinesh Pratap Singh.

Sources state that Uttarakhand has a total of 14 PCS officers from the 2017 batch, and all are likely to be promoted. All the PCS officers from the 2017 batch are directly recruited PCS officers and none through promotion. Those likely to be promoted are Abhay Pratap Singh, Akash Joshi, Shipra Joshi, Aparna Dhoundiyal, Apoorva Singh, Ajayveer Singh, Yogesh Singh, Rahul Shah, Bushra Ansari, Tushar Saini, Ravindra Singh Junwatha, Monika, Sudhir Kumar, and Manish Bisht. The Personnel Department is trying to complete all formalities and issue the promotion orders by Diwali, it is learnt.

It may also be noted that, in addition to the promotion of PCS officers, administrative preparations are underway to promote a large number of PPS officers. A large number of vacancies have arisen due to the recently created posts under the plan of expanding the Police Force. For these positions, a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting is likely to be held soon.

Sources confirm that, in Uttarakhand, promotions are due for the grade pay of Rs 8,900, which means a large number of senior PPS officers are likely to be promoted to the grade pay of Rs 8,700. Though there are also a few vacancies in the grade pay of Rs 10,000, it has been claimed that no PPS officer currently fulfils the eligibility criteria for promotion to the grade pay of Rs 10,000 in the state.

In addition, promotions of PPS officers to the grade pay of Rs 7,600 and to the grade pay of Rs 6,600 are also likely to be approved soon. DPC is to be held for 11 officers in the grade pay of Rs 7,600, and based on seniority, these 11 PPS officers will be promoted after the DPC.

Additionally, 12 promotions are pending in the grade pay of Rs 6,600, but only 11 officers are currently eligible for promotion, and hence only 11 PPS officers will get the chance to be promoted to the grade pay of Rs 6,600. It may also be recalled that as a result of these promotions, vacancies will occur in the lower positions. Thus, other officers will benefit from future promotions relative to the vacant positions.

Meanwhile, some PPS officers are eligible for promotion to the IPS cadre, and they may soon be promoted, as they have been waiting for a long time for this. At least two officers, namely Sarita Dobhal and Harish Verma, are likely to be promoted soon to the IPS cadre.
