Dehradun, 30 Jun: The Uttarakhand Government has created 244 new academic and non-teaching posts for the three newly established campuses of Soban Singh Jeena University. A government order formalising the creation of these posts has been issued. With this decision, the campuses have, for the first time, received a permanent academic and administrative framework, which is expected to significantly strengthen teaching, research, and administrative functions while directly benefiting students.

Officials from the Higher Education Department stated that the newly sanctioned posts are for the university’s campuses at Bageshwar, Champawat, and Pithoragarh.

Under the academic cadre, 38 posts have been created for the Bageshwar campus in accordance with University Grants Commission (UGC) norms. These include 29 Assistant Professors, 8 Associate Professors, and 1 Professor.

For the Champawat campus, 31 academic posts have been sanctioned, comprising 30 Assistant Professors and 1 Associate Professor.

The Pithoragarh campus has been allotted 95 academic posts, including 59 Assistant Professors, 20 Associate Professors, and 16 Professors.

In addition, non-teaching posts have also been created for all three campuses. In the first phase, 22 posts have been sanctioned for Bageshwar, 17 for Champawat, and 41 for Pithoragarh. These include positions such as Librarian, Assistant Librarian, Senior Administrative Officer, Assistant Accountant, Head Assistant, Personal Assistant, Senior Assistant, Junior Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Environmental Worker, Gardener, Attendant, and Multi-Tasking Staff.

The government has issued the necessary order in this regard. Under the order, the 329 academic and non-teaching posts that had previously been created for the three colleges have been transferred to the Higher Education Department.

Departmental officials further stated that positions designated for outsourcing will be filled through authorised agencies in accordance with the rules prescribed by the state government. The creation of these permanent posts will strengthen teaching, research, and administrative operations across all three campuses, providing students with an improved academic environment.

“The creation of 244 academic and non-teaching posts for the three campuses of Soban Singh Jeena University at Bageshwar, Champawat, and Pithoragarh has been approved. Teachers and staff will be adjusted against these sanctioned posts, while positions designated for outsourcing will be filled at the earliest through authorised outsourcing agencies. The creation of these new posts will enable academic and administrative activities across all three campuses to function more effectively, systematically, and efficiently,” stated Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Higher Education Minister, Uttarakhand.
