Dehradun, 17 Mar: Police have arrested three men involved in a robbery at a public service centre in the Raipur area. One of the accused, Sahil, was injured during a police encounter. The mastermind, Dilshad, along with another accused, Kamil, was arrested in the Ranipokhri area on Monday morning. The police recovered Rs 25,000 in cash, a country-made pistol, six cartridges (four live and two empty), and a stolen scooter from the accused.

According to the police, Dilshad had met the owner of the public service centre five years ago while applying for a loan. He often visited the centre and knew that a large amount of cash was kept there. Dilshad, along with Sahil, planned the robbery. They also took the help of Sahil’s uncle, Kamil. To execute their plan, they stole a scooter from the Kotwali Nagar area. On 11 March, three men entered the public service centre in Bhagat Singh Colony and looted Rs 70,000 at gunpoint. The police launched an investigation and examined CCTV footage. They identified the suspects and started tracking them.

SSP Ajai Singh said, “We received information that two accused had returned to Dehradun for another robbery. To catch them, we launched a special checking campaign in all police station areas.” During checking in Ranipokhri, the police spotted the suspects, but they tried to escape. When the police chased them, they fired at the officers. In response, the police fired back and injured Sahil. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, while Kamil was caught in a nearby jungle.

The police have recovered Rs 25,000 in cash, a country-made pistol, six cartridges (four live and two empty), and the stolen scooter from the accused. Investigations revealed that Sahil was involved in a murder case in Delhi and a robbery case in Bijnor. The police are now searching for two more accused, Mohit and Rahul, who are residents of Jahangirpuri, Delhi. Meanwhile, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Dehradun has announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for the police team that solved the case.
