Srinagar/Dehradun, 25 Nov: Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Government Medical College, Srinagar, has recorded another achievement. More than 50 MBBS graduates from the medical college have been selected for postgraduate (PG) courses in India’s prestigious medical institutions following the first round of NEET PG counselling. This achievement has brought joy not only to the selected doctors but also to the entire medical college.
On this occasion, Minister of Medical Health and Medical Education Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, expressed his happiness and congratulated the selected doctors and the medical college administration.
Uttarakhand is continuously setting new milestones in the field of medical education. While the state government is establishing new medical colleges to give medical education a new direction, students from these institutions are showcasing their talents on the national stage. In this regard, more than 50 MBBS graduates from Srinagar Medical College have brought glory to the state by securing positions in prestigious medical colleges in the first round of NEET PG counselling. These doctors will now pursue PG courses in MD, MS, and DNB and specialise in their respective fields. Their selection has created a celebratory atmosphere in the college, including among the faculty members.
Among the selected doctors, Dr Diksha Tomar from the 2014 batch, Dr Neha Verma, Dr Meenakshi Tamta, and Dr. Shishir Joshi from the 2015 batch have secured seats for PG courses. Similarly, from the 2016 batch, Dr Mansi Bhatt, Dr Rajat Kumar, Dr Ravi, Dr Shivam, Dr Ashish Shah, Dr Sweta Shah, and Dr Vivek Verma have been selected. From the 2017 batch, Dr Kartika Tiwari, Dr Kanika Kukreti, along with Dr Saurabh Joshi and Dr Sagar Joshi, have been selected for PG courses in prestigious institutions. These doctors will continue their education while serving in states such as Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, and Karnataka.
The Principal of the Medical College, Dr CMS Rawat, expressed happiness at this achievement and said that the success of these MBBS doctors has not only brought honour to the institution but also proves that medical colleges from remote hilly areas are making their mark on the national level. He also praised the hard work of the medical college faculty members.
“The selection of over 50 MBBS doctors for PG courses is a symbol of the high-level educational environment and better training in Uttarakhand’s medical colleges. I extend my best wishes to all the selected doctors and hope that after completing their PG courses, they will contribute significantly to improving the state’s healthcare services,” declared Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister of Medical Health and Medical Education.
