55th Regional Sports Meet concludes at KVBHEL Hardwar

Hardwar, 25 Jun: The three-day regional sports meet of Dehradun Region of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) featuring Kho-Kho for boys Under 14 and 17 and Chess for Boys U-14, U-17 and U-19 concluded at Kendriya Vidyalaya BHEL Hardwar, here, today.

The meet was declared formally closed by Partha Sarathi Gouda, Chief Guest, Chairman Nominee VMC, KV BHEL Haridwar, & AGM (HR) BHEL Haridwar, in the presence of BP Singh, Principal, KVBHEL.

In this 55th Regional Sports Meet, nearly 160 students from 24 various Kendriya Vidyalayas of Region participated.

On the concluding day, the final match of Kho-Kho Under-14 category was played between the teams of KV ITBP Gauchar and PM Shri KV Saurkhand. PM Shri KV Saurkhand emerged as the winner. In another final match between KV Banbasa Cantt and PM Shri KV Kausani, KV Banbasa Cantt lifted the trophy by defeating their rival in under-17 category. The winning schools also made it to the Nationals.

In the Chess Championship U-19, Devansh Mani of KV OLF Dehradun took the top position, Yatharth of KV IMA, Dehradun, the 2nd position, and Prateek of KV Bhimtal, the third position. In U-17, Seemant Gusain of KV IIP, Dehradun, emerged the winner followed by Shreyash of KVSSB, Gwaldam, who won the Silver, and Nikunj of KV LBSNNA Mussoorie got the Bronze, respectively. The Gold medal in the youngest category of chess, that is U-14, was fetched by Amrutansh Pant of KV Khatima, Silver by Shreshtha Singh Bisht of KV Khatima. Ayushman of KVNo2 got the Bronze.

Partha Sarathi Gouda in his address to the students congratulated the winning teams and applauded all the players for their excellent display. He blessed the players for their next level and bring laurels for Dehradun Region.

Principal Brijesh Pal Singh highlighted that regional sports meet inculcates moral values, leadership skills, team work, adaptability, as well as stress management. He congratulated the students of KVBHEL, Sandhya and Ayushi, participating respectively for Shooting and Swimming at KVIIP for winning gold; he also congratulated Harshita and Soumili of KVBHEL who participated in U-14 Chess tournament held at KVSOI, Hathibharkala, Dehradun, and stood first and second respectively.

Before the closure a small cultural presentation was also made by the host school KVBHEL under the guidance of TGT, English, Prerna Patwal.

The programme reached its culmination with the Prize Distribution Ceremony followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Deepak Kumar, PGT, English.
