Dehradun, 20 Dec: The Junior Section of the Heritage School organised its 71st Annual Sports Day, here, today.
It was a fun filled morning of athletic competition and excitement. The Chief Guest was Priti Saxena, Director, Little Woodians Pre-Primary School and Director of Computer Science Department, Touch Wood School.
Meenakshi Saxena, Principal, Touch Wood School, Heritage School President Avadhesh Chaudhary, Uma Chaudhary, Counsellor Charu Chaudhary, Principal Dr Anju Tyagi and Junior School Coordinator Sarika Jain were present at the event.
The day began with a colourful March Past led by School Head Boy Advay Butola and Head Girl Chitranshi Pharswan, along with four houses i.e. Shivalik House, Mandakni House, Monal House and Saagwan House. The students proudly displayed their house flags and banners. The School Sports Torch was ignited by Avadhesh Chaudhary. It was carried by Nivedita Gairola, Hargun, Sankalp Nautiyal, Adhiraj Chaudhary, Mansha Garg and Yuvraj Chaudhary, who have played at the National and state levels.
The Sports Captain Aradhya Jadav took the oath along with the students.
The s meet was declared open by sports officer Sanjay Thapa.
This was followed by a series of track and field events including Fun Races for classes LKG, UKG and class one children. Classes 2 to 5 participated in the 50m sprint and 4x50m Shuttle Relay.
Students also displayed Yoga, Dance and Formation Drills. They showcased their impressive skills in their respective events. The spectators cheered on the participants, urging them to give their best.
The Trophies for Best Athlete for classes 2 to 5 were awarded to boys and girls.
The Best Athlete Trophy for class two was awarded to Mohd Ubaid (Boys) and Naira Shrishait (Girls).
The Best Athlete Trophy for class three was awarded to Vivaan Saklani (Boys) and Anvee (Girls). The Best Athlete Trophy for class four was awarded to Shashank Burman (Boys) and Samridhi Kukreti (Girls). The Best Athlete Trophy for class five was awarded to Dev Guleria (Boys) and Rani Kumari (Girls)
Saagwan House won the trophy for Best March Past.
The House Championship Trophy was bagged jointly by Shivalik House and Mandakini House as there was a tie between both the houses.
Chief Guest Priti Saxena congratulated the students on their achievement and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence.
The School President presented the school memento to the Chief Guest. The vote of thanks was proposed by Sushma Painuly.
