Dehradun, 21 Aug: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttarakhand Dr BVRC Purushottam has appointed nine IAS and PCS officers as supervision officers to monitor the disposal of claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)‑2026. The move comes in compliance with the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI). These nominations come at a time when Congress has turned the SIR exercise into a political issue and has levelled allegations of unfair deletions of the voters’ name from the voters’ list.
According to the order issued by the CEO, Dr Sandeep Tiwari, Lalit Narayan Mishra, Nand Kumar and Gopal Ram Binwal have been designated as supervision officers in Haridwar district. In Nainital district, Sanjay Kumar and Vineet Tomar have been entrusted with this responsibility, while in Udham Singh Nagar district, Prakash Chandra Dumka, Jai Kishan and Divesh Shashni have been appointed.
These supervision officers have been asked to oversee the process of disposal of claims and objections related to the electoral roll in the respective assembly constituencies, including notice distribution, service and hearings. They have also been urged to ensure strict compliance with the procedures laid down by the Election Commission of India and maintain quality in the disposal process.
As per the orders issued by the CEO, the officers nominated as supervision officers are required to submit reports of their daily inspections twice a week to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer through the Divisional Commissioner. The monitoring will be carried out in accordance with Chapter 11 of the Manual on Electoral Roll‑2023, which prescribes the revision procedure and reporting format.
As per the order, the appointed officers will remain under the control, supervision and discipline of the Commission for the entire revision period. The directive issued by the Chief Electoral Officer has come into immediate effect.
