Dehradun, 19 Mar: Assembly elections have been announced in four states and one union territory by the Election Commission of India. Keeping this in view, the BJP has begun deploying leaders and workers from Uttarakhand to strengthen its campaign in crucial regions such as West Bengal, Assam and Kerala.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is also set to join the fray, with plans to address rallies and lead roadshows in these states to sharpen the party’s outreach.

The assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry have prompted the BJP to finalise its strategy, with the central leadership assigning significant responsibilities to Uttarakhand’s leaders and cadres. In West Bengal, cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat has already been active for several months, working to consolidate the organisation at the grassroots level. He has been supported by teams from the BJP’s youth wing, which continue to engage directly with local communities.
In the next phase, CM Dhami will spearhead public meetings and roadshows in West Bengal, Assam and Kerala, aiming to bolster the party’s presence and generate favourable momentum. The party leaders in Uttarakhand claim that Dhami’s campaign has previously proved beneficial for the BJP, with visits to Bihar, Haryana and Delhi yielding positive outcomes. The BJP leaders also claim that this track record has led the central leadership to place renewed confidence in him for the current elections.
Sources added that other party leaders including the ministers from Uttarakhand will also be dispatched in stages to the poll-bound states. The youth wing has already established its presence in West Bengal, Assam and Kerala, while senior leaders are expected to intensify their involvement as polling dates draw closer.
Kundan Parihar, BJP general secretary in Uttarakhand, asserted that the working style of Uttarakhand’s cadres is appreciated at the national level. This is why they are consistently entrusted with responsibilities in elections across other states. BJP will secure a stronger performance in West Bengal and Assam this time.
It may be recalled that polling in Assam, Kerala and Puducherry will be conducted in a single phase on 9 April, while Tamil Nadu will vote in one phase on 23 April. On the other hand, West Bengal will witness polling in two phases on 23 and 29 April. With the electoral calendar set, all political parties have intensified their campaigns, and the BJP is deploying leaders from across the country including from Uttarakhand to influence the electoral equations in party’s favour.
