DEHRADUN, 2 May: St. Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun, marked Labour Day with a well-organised programme that honoured the dignity of labour and paid tribute to the working community, particularly the school’s own ancillary staff.
Students presented a rich cultural lineup that included a Hindi choir performing Hum Mehnat Kash Is Duniya Mein, a Hindi play themed on Labour Day, a Medley, and a dance performance. The Middle School Tech Board added a contemporary touch with a video presentation in which they had interviewed the helpers of the school. Community leader Brother Astinus Kujur addressed the gathering in fluent Hindi, extending heartfelt gratitude to workers for their tireless contribution and dedication. His words resonated deeply with the audience, underscoring the spirit of the occasion.
Academy Principal Brother Joseph M Joseph delivered the message of the day, drawing a meaningful connection between the value of work and the school’s cherished motto — Laborare Est Orare (Work is Worship). He emphasised that honest labour is not merely a duty but an act of devotion, urging students to carry this principle through their lives.
Gifts were also presented to the ancillary staff of the school in recognition of their invaluable service, a gesture that was warmly received.
Earlier, the programme had commenced with
a Tilak ceremony, followed by a prayer and the formal welcome of the Reverend Brothers and the Supervisor. The lighting of the lamp signalled the formal commencement of the programme.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Supervisor Ajeet Verdhan,  the  school song and the National Anthem.
