Doon Nagar Nigam reviews progress of sanitation campaign in Doon

Dehradun, 8 Jun: A comprehensive review meeting on sanitation arrangements, door‑to‑door waste collection and user charge collection was held in the auditorium of Dehradun Municipal Corporation (Doon Nagar Nigam) under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey, here, today. Chief sanitation inspectors, sanitation inspectors, newly appointed inspectors, supervisors of the corporation and PMC, along with representatives of self‑help groups engaged in user charge collection participated in the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to apprise the officers and staff of their responsibilities and to assess the progress of various sanitation activities in the city. The Commissioner directed the inspectors and supervisors to ensure regular monitoring, effective supervision and adherence to prescribed standards in their respective areas. Detailed review of garbage vulnerable points was also undertaken and strategies discussed to eliminate these sites and prevent re‑accumulation of waste. The current status of door‑to‑door collection, efforts to achieve one hundred per cent coverage of households and progress in source‑level segregation were also evaluated. The Commissioner directed the officials to ensure continuous improvement in the quality of collection and segregation.

The progress of user charge collection was also examined in depth. A presentation analysed the performance of self‑help groups (SHGs), highlighting the top ten and lowest performing groups. Quarter‑wise collection was reviewed and guidance provided to improve efficiency. The Commissioner interacted with representatives of self‑help groups, listened to their problems and suggestions, and directed officials to resolve issues promptly while emphasising transparency and effectiveness in the collection system.

The meeting also discussed strengthening sanitation arrangements, increasing user charge collection, encouraging citizen participation and ensuring effective implementation of cleanliness campaigns run by the corporation.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Tanveer Singh Marwah, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Rajbir Singh Chauhan and other officers and staff of the corporation were among those present. The Commissioner instructed all the officials and the departments concerned to work in coordination to achieve the set targets and further strengthen sanitation arrangements in the city.
