Dehradun, 10 Jun: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr BVRC Purushottam today reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign through a video conference with District Magistrates (DMs) of all the districts from the Secretariat. During the review meeting, the CEO expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of enumeration form distribution in Dehradun, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts and directed the authorities concerned to expedite the campaign in these areas.
At the same time, Purushottam appreciated the performance of Champawat, Almora and Pithoragarh districts, which have emerged as the top three districts in terms of distribution of enumeration forms under the ongoing revision exercise.
The CEO directed the district administrations to intensify awareness and outreach activities, particularly in urban areas, to ensure that voters are effectively reached through residential colonies and public places. He emphasised the need for extensive publicity and instructed officials to ensure the active participation of IT volunteers deployed alongside Booth Level Officers (BLOs), as well as Booth Awareness Groups, in order to strengthen the campaign and maximise voter outreach.
During the meeting, the CEO was informed that by this afternoon, the third day of the Special Intensive Revision campaign, more than 19 lakh enumeration forms had been distributed to voters across Uttarakhand. The state has completed the distribution of forms to nearly 24 per cent of its electorate within the first three days of the exercise.
The review focused on the pace of implementation across districts and measures required to accelerate the campaign in areas reporting comparatively lower progress. The officials discussed strategies for improving voter contact and ensuring that all eligible electors receive the necessary forms within the stipulated timeframe.
Among those present at the review meeting included Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Prakash Chandra Dumka, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Kishan Singh Negi and Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das were present during the review meeting. District Magistrates from all districts of the state also participated virtually and apprised the Chief Electoral Officer of the progress achieved in their respective jurisdictions.
