Mussoorie, 18 Jun: Modern technology and the promptness of the police have once again reinforced public trust. Mussoorie Police recovered a lost iPhone-15—valued at approximately Rs 55,000—in a short span of time and safely returned it to its owner. According to reports, on 15 June, Tanya (wife of Gaurav Kumar, resident of Zafar Hall, Kulri Bazaar, Mussoorie) visited the Mussoorie Police Station to lodge a complaint stating that she had lost her mobile phone while walking between the MDDA parking area and Picture Palace. She was deeply distressed as the phone contained important personal and digital information. Upon receiving the complaint, the Mussoorie Police treated the matter seriously and initiated tracking of the mobile phone using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) app. With the assistance of the technical team, the phone’s location and other details were gathered, leading to the recovery of the lost device.

After completing the necessary verification procedures, the police handed the phone back to its owner, Tanya. Upon safely receiving her phone, Tanya expressed her gratitude to the Mussoorie Police, noting that she had not expected to recover it so quickly; however, the police’s proactive approach and technical expertise made the recovery of her valuable device possible. Police officials have appealed to the public to immediately report any lost mobile phone to the nearest police station and to utilize the CEIR portal and app. These tools significantly aid in tracking and recovering lost or stolen mobile phones. This action by the Mussoorie Police has once again demonstrated that the synergy between technology and prompt policing enables the swift resolution of issues faced by ordinary citizens.
