Rudraprayag, 25 Jun: A large public gathering was held at Gulabrai ground in Rudraprayag today demanding impartial and transparent investigation into the Nagarasu Gurdwara dispute and the Karnprayag incident. The meeting witnessed significant participation of youth and women, with slogans such as ‘Jai Pahad, Jai Pahadi’, ‘Conduct Impartial Inquiry’ and ‘Protect the Honour of the Hills’ resonating across the area.

Leaders including Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD)’s Ashish Negi, youth leader Mohit Dimri, social activist Tribhuvan Chauhan, municipal chairman Santosh Rawat and Arun Negi raised serious questions on the role of the government and administration, insisting that both the incidents must be investigated fairly. They warned that if justice is not delivered, the movement will be expanded across the state.

Addressing the gathering, Ashish Negi said that ‘Jai Pahad, Jai Pahadi’ is not merely a slogan but a symbol of the identity, self‑respect and honour of the hills. He alleged that attempts are being made to link the Nagarasu and Karnprayag incidents to dilute the real issues, while those who hurt the dignity of the hill people have not faced appropriate action. Tribhuvan Chauhan stated that the matter is not about one person or organisation but about the collective honour and justice of the hills. He emphasised that democratic struggle will continue at every level to protect people’s rights and dignity, and only impartial investigation will bring out the truth and restore public trust. He urged people to remain united and raise their voice peacefully.

Mohit Dimri said that law and the Constitution are equal for all and that strict action must be taken against elements which had attempted to disrupt social harmony or challenge law and order. He added that the youth are united in demanding justice and transparency and will take the movement to every village. Santosh Rawat, supporting the gathering, said that the Nagarasu incident has caused widespread anger and resentment among the people of the hills.
