Dehradun, 26 Jun:  BJP today strongly defended the swift action taken so far in connection with the alleged irregularities involving the donations made at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. In a statement issued today, BJP State President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt asserted that the BJP government’s prompt response reflects its commitment to protecting the sanctity of the temple and the faith of devotees. He alleged that the Opposition, which it claimed had opposed the Ram Temple from the very beginning, was now attempting to exploit the issue to undermine the unity of the Sanatan community.
Bhatt termed the allegations levelled by the Opposition over the matter as ‘crocodile tears’ and launched a sharp attack, alleging that the Opposition’s sole objective was to hurt Hindu sentiments and weaken the unity of Sanatan followers. Bhatt said those who had consistently opposed the construction of the Ram Temple, those who had ordered firing on Ram devotees those who would never have allowed the construction of grand temple at Ram Janmabhumi had it been in their hands, are now speaking about probity and transparency. He alleged that the Opposition had remained occupied with glorifying the Babri Masjid and maintained that its political character had always been anti-Ram. He said the BJP was not concerned about such allegations, as for the party and its governments, the dignity of Lord Ram’s temple and the faith and trust of devotees remained paramount.
Bhatt asserted that the pace of action in the entire matter itself demonstrated the government’s clear intent. He accused the Opposition of indulging in political hypocrisy and asserted that the government’s intentions were beyond doubt. He pointed out that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) report was submitted three days before the deadline fixed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He further said that an FIR was registered within 48 hours, the accused were arrested within the next 24 hours and the resignations from the management positions on moral ground followed immediately thereafter. According to him, the speed of the investigation reflected the BJP government’s resolve not to tolerate any lapse in matters concerning Sanatan Dharma and public faith.
Targeting the Congress, Bhatt said that while the Opposition viewed the issue through the prism of politics, the BJP regarded it as a matter of faith. He alleged that for the Congress and the Opposition, Lord Ram and the Ram Temple has always been political issues. He claimed that when they perceived political gains in opposing the construction of the temple, they delayed its construction for years. He further alleged that because of their policy of appeasement, they had not gathered the courage to visit Ram Lalla even today.
Bhatt said that now, following the unfortunate incident involving the alleged theft of the donations at the Ram Temple, the Opposition had once again become active as it saw an opportunity to spread confusion and misinformation. He alleged that its primary objective was to hurt Hindu sentiments so that the Sanatan community could never unite against what he described as forces opposed to Lord Ram. Bhatt said the issue concerned the faith, values and unwavering belief of millions of Sanatan followers. He asserted that the government is conducting the investigation with complete impartiality and strictness to safeguard this faith and assured that no guilty person would be spared, irrespective of their position.
