Dehradun, 3 Jul: On the occasion of World Chess Day, Chess Knight Academy, Dehradun is planning to organise a free 2-day International Master Chess Coaching Camp for chess players and young learners in Dehradun.
The camp is proposed to be held on 19 and 20 July 2026. The venue will be announced shortly, based on the number of registrations and participation interest received from players and schools.
A reputed International Master (IM) will conduct the coaching sessions during the camp. An International Master is one of the highest titles in chess and is awarded to players who have demonstrated exceptional playing strength and strong performance at national and international levels. The camp will give students an opportunity to learn advanced chess concepts, tournament preparation methods, practical decision-making, and competitive thinking from a titled chess professional.
The programme will also have the presence and guidance of IA Anurag Singh, one of the leading chess coaches in the country and former coach of the Indian University Chess Team. An International Arbiter (IA) is one of the highest titles awarded to chess arbiters by FIDE, the world chess federation. With his experience as a coach, trainer, arbiter, and tournament organiser, IA Anurag Singh’s presence is expected to add significant value to the participating students.
Chess Knight Academy has been actively working for the development and promotion of chess in Uttarakhand for several years. Under the direction and guidance of IA Anurag Singh, the academy has produced more than 150 international FIDE-rated players to date, including 30+ players from Dehradun. The academy continues to play a key role in creating a strong chess culture in the region by providing structured coaching, tournament exposure, and professional guidance to young players.
The camp is being offered completely free of cost for the benefit of young chess players. According to Chess Knight Academy, the initiative aims to provide serious learners and budding players of Dehradun with access to high-quality chess training and professional guidance.
The academy has invited interested players and schools to confirm their interest for the camp. Schools have been requested to share the expected number of participants under three categories: beginners who are new to chess, intermediate players who have participated in tournaments before, and advanced players who are FIDE-rated or have a Lichess rating above 1800.
