DEHRADUN, 11 Jul: The Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), on Saturday unveiled the Sanskrit verse translation of the Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Lok Bhavan. This is the first complete Sanskrit verse translation of the Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib, translated by the Ram Tirth Centre and eminent scholar Sahityacharya Shri Jaynarayan Shastri. The event was organized to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Ram Tirth Centre (Saharanpur).
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that the occasion marked not only the Golden Jubilee of an institution but also a historic celebration of India’s cultural heritage, spirituality, knowledge traditions, and national unity. He described the confluence of Gurbani and Sanskrit—the divine language—as a powerful symbol of India’s cultural integration, spiritual dialogue, and social harmony. He emphasized that understanding the profound teachings of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, incorporating them into daily life, and sharing its wisdom with society is a collective responsibility.
The Governor said that the Sanskrit verse translation of the Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib is a landmark achievement in the history of India’s knowledge tradition, literature, and spirituality. He noted that the work is far more than a linguistic translation; it is a remarkable synthesis of the divine consciousness of Gurbani and the timeless wisdom of Sanskrit. He added that the publication would serve as a valuable resource for inspiration, academic study, and research for generations to come.
He praised Sahityacharya Jaynarayan Shastri ‘Yatri’ for his decades of dedication and scholarship that made this extraordinary work possible. The Governor also appreciated the contributions of Acharya Sarveshwar Nath Prabhakar, Acharya Gangeshwar Nath Prabhakar, Dr. Abha Prabhakar, and the entire editorial team. He observed that documentation and publication are not merely acts of record-keeping but vital efforts to preserve the collective memory of civilization. He congratulated the Ram Tirth Centre family and all the scholars and contributors associated with this historic publication.
