Dehradun, 23 Jul: The three-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on the theme, ‘Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural)’, organised by the Central Bureau of Communication, Dehradun, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, successfully concluded on Thursday at the Children’s Park, Chakrata. Throughout the event, continuous efforts were made to connect students, local villagers, and the general public with the central government’s welfare schemes and the vision of a developed India through competitions, photo exhibitions, cultural performances, public awareness activities, and informative stalls set up by various departments.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony, Anil Chandna, Vice President of the Cantt Board, Chakrata, emphasised that youth play the most crucial role in building a Viksit Bharat. He stated that it is essential for young people to be aware of central welfare schemes so that they can leverage these opportunities themselves while educating others in society. He urged the students to take an active part in nation-building and work toward bringing the vision of a developed India to fruition.
On the final day, students from Cantt Inter College, Chakrata, participated enthusiastically in speech, painting, and quiz competitions. They explored the theme-based photo exhibition on site and collected detailed information on public welfare initiatives from the departmental stalls. A vibrant performance of traditional Jaunsari folk dance by the students of Cantt Inter College served as a major highlight of the closing day.
The preceding days of the outreach programme were equally engaging. On the second day, students from Jaunsar Public School, Chakrata, actively competed in drawing and quiz contests, captivating the audience with impressive yoga and dance performances. Addressing the gathering, the school’s principal and Chief Guest for the day, Mridula Thapa, encouraged students to fulfill their social responsibilities alongside their academic pursuits. She noted that programmes like this serve as an effective medium for connecting students with government welfare initiatives and raising civic awareness.
Throughout the three-day event, representatives from the Agriculture Department and the Child Development Department detailed their major schemes, services, and beneficiary programmes. A large number of rural men and women visited the exhibition and gathered information from stalls set up by government departments and local Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to take advantage of these initiatives.
At the conclusion of the event, Chief Guest Anil Chandna honoured the competition winners with awards. In the drawing competition organised under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign) for Jaunsar Public School, Namaswi Tomar secured first place, Arpit Ranjan secured second, and Aena Tomar placed third in the Junior category. In the Senior category, Shambhavi took first place, followed by Araina Chandna in second and Ishant Negi in third. For the Viksit Bharat painting competition among Cantt Inter College students, Navya achieved first place, Princy took second, and Krish finished third. Meanwhile, in the Viksit Bharat speech competition, Garima bagged the top position, with Aaradhya Tomar and Sonakshi Verma securing second and third places, respectively.
