Rudraprayag, 10 Aug: In the hills of Uttarakhand, today was observed as the final Monday of Sawan, and on this day, thousands of devotees thronged the Kedarnath shrine despite incessant showers and unpredictable mountain weather. The entire atmosphere of Kedarpuri and the yatra route reverberated with chants of ‘Bam Bam Bhole’, ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Jai Baba Kedar’, creating a deeply devotional ambience. As per the official claims, 14.46 lakh pilgrims have visited Kedarnath temple this year, which is a new record.
The pilgrims carrying Gangajal undertook arduous treks to reach Kedarnath and performed jalabhishek of Lord Shiva, undeterred by rain and difficult terrain today. The devotees prayed for prosperity, peace and well being, immersing themselves in spiritual fervour. The sight of devotees advancing on foot through adverse conditions reflected their unwavering faith.
The massive turnout on the last Monday of Sawan once again demonstrated the unshakeable devotion of pilgrims from across the country. The rising numbers have infused enthusiasm in the Kedarganga valley, adding to the spiritual aura of the shrine.
Rudraprayag District administration and Rudraprayag Police remained on high alert throughout the day, keeping close watch on the yatra route and ensuring security arrangements. Sensitive points along the route were manned by the administrative and the police teams, with officials instructed to prioritise the safety of pilgrims. Emergency preparedness was also strengthened to deal with any eventuality.
Special focus was laid on the convenience of devotees, with the arrangements for accommodation, food, drinking water, health services, sanitation and other essential facilities. Additional administrative teams remained present today on site to monitor arrangements and ensure that pilgrims faced no difficulty.
The devotional atmosphere of Kedarnath on Sawan’s last Monday was heightened by the presence of thousands of devotees chanting ‘Har Har Mahadev’ amid showers, lending the shrine an even more profound spiritual radiance. Authorities have appealed to pilgrims to remain cautious in view of the weather, avoid unnecessary risks and follow safety advisories issued by police and administration. The swelling crowds and chants of devotion have reaffirmed Kedarnath’s place as a centre of unyielding faith and spiritual energy.
