Dehradun, 24 Aug: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr BVRC Purushottam today reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision campaign through a video conference with the Commissioners of Kumaon and Garhwal and the District Magistrates of Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar. During the meeting, the DMs presented detailed reports on the disposal of claims and objections and outlined their strategies for the coming weeks. The CEO directed that all the claims and the objections must be heard strictly in accordance with rules and warned that responsibility will be fixed on officers found negligent and that an appropriate action would follow. He instructed the district authorities to maintain regular dialogue with the political parties and the media at the local level.
The CEO also sought detailed information from District Election Officers regarding the disposal of Form 6, Form 7 and Form 8 applications. He directed that the
booths where more than four per cent additions or more than two per cent deletions are anticipated must be personally inspected and reviewed by the concerned Electoral Registration Officers to ensure compliance with norms. He also sought feedback on recent district visits conducted by Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat and Garhwal Commissioner Anand Swaroop, instructing them to continue regular field inspections.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the key projects and emphasised on the need for strict adherence to timelines. The CEO reiterated that transparency and accountability are paramount in the revision process and that lapses would not be tolerated. Among those present included Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Prakash Chandra Dumka, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das, along with both the Divisional Commissioners and all the DMs concerned.
