Dehradun, 2 Sep: In a major boost to the international profile of Uttarakhand’s native heritage and produce, high-ranking Indian diplomats currently serving as Heads of Mission overseas paid a landmark visit to the ‘House of Himalayas’ (HoH) flagship outlet in Dehradun.

The delegation featured Alok Ranjan Jha, High Commissioner of India to Zambia (Lusaka); Devesh Uttam, Ambassador of India to Lithuania (Vilnius); and Mayank Joshi, High Commissioner of India to Jamaica (Kingston). The visit was organised as part of their official state attachment tour in Uttarakhand under the Mid-Career Training Programme (MCTP-III), conducted by the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service, Ministry of External Affairs.

During their walkthrough, the envoys commended the core philosophy behind the brand, noting the exceptional quality, thoughtful design, and rich cultural narrative woven into each offering. They expressed particular admiration for the integrated supply chain driving the initiative—a broad product ecosystem spanning agriculture, horticulture, handicrafts, Non-Timber Forest Produce (NTFP), and indigenous herbs and spices. The diplomats praised the dedication of women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the state, whose hard work in cultivating and processing these authentic goods forms the backbone of the enterprise.

The envoys also lauded the overarching leadership of Managing Director Jharana Kamthan, whose vision has successfully bridged the gap between grassroots women artisans and larger commercial markets. Recognising the strong international appeal of these sustainable products, the diplomats expressed keen interest in commissioning customised House of Himalayas gift hampers for official diplomatic use at their respective High Commissions and Embassies abroad. This engagement underscores a powerful synergy between international diplomacy and local empowerment—seamlessly linking Uttarakhand’s natural wealth, craftsmanship, and rural enterprise with global markets. As brand representatives highlighted, interactions of this calibre reinforce their core commitment: bringing the authentic spirit of the Himalayas to the world—one product, one story, and one relationship at a time.
