Dehradun, 3 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today handed over appointment letters to 101 newly selected personnel in the Animal Husbandry and Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Departments at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office here. The appointments include 88 Livestock Extension Officers and 13 Sugarcane Supervisors. Extending his best wishes to the newly appointed employees, the CM observed that the appointment letters symbolise the hard work, discipline and determination of the youth, who from today become an integral part of the Uttarakhand government and embark on a significant journey of public service.
Dhami urged the new appointees to use their knowledge, energy and fresh ideas to make governance more effective and to set an example through their work. He emphasised that the state government has ensured transparency in recruitment processes by implementing the country’s strictest anti-cheating law, thereby safeguarding the interests of the youth. He said government jobs are now being secured on the basis of merit and talent rather than recommendation or influence. Over the past five years, more than 34,000 youth have successfully obtained government employment, reflecting the government’s commitment to transparent recruitment and equal opportunity.
The CM also observed that the Animal Husbandry and Sugarcane Development Departments are directly linked to the rural economy. In the hill regions, animal husbandry is a vital source of livelihood, women’s economic empowerment and village prosperity. The government is continuously working to strengthen animal husbandry as a means of employment, self-employment and rural development. He also mentioned initiatives such as the Mukhyamantri Aanchal Amrit Yojana, Mukhyamantri Ghassyari Kalyan Yojana and Mukhyamantri Rajya Pashudhan Mission, which aim to promote animal husbandry and dairy. Efforts are being made to provide subsidised units for cattle, goats, sheep and poultry, along with artificial insemination, vaccination and improved veterinary facilities.
In respect of sugarcane farming, the CM reiterated the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare. He said the sugarcane survey system has been made online and transparent, while sugarcane clinics and advisory centres have been established to provide farmers with information on new technologies, improved varieties and scientific farming practices. He noted that sugarcane farmers in Uttarakhand are being paid Rs 5 per quintal more than their counterparts in UP.
Dhami also reminded the new appointees that their foremost responsibility is to ensure that government schemes reach eligible beneficiaries in a timely and transparent manner. He asked them to engage with farmers and livestock owners, understand their problems and work sensitively towards solutions.
Among those present on the occasion were Cabinet Ministers Saurabh Bahuguna, Ganesh Joshi and Khajan Das, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Savita Kapoor and Durgeshwar Lal, Secretary SN Pandey and other dignitaries.
