Dehradun, 3 Sep: The 17-day-long protest in Banchaura, Yamunotri, over five key demands ended today following an assurance from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. A delegation of local residents, led by Cabinet Minister Khajan Das and BJP state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan, met the CM today to present the demands. Later, Chauhan shared with the media that the CM listened to the issues with seriousness and sensitivity and assured necessary action.
Chauhan expressed gratitude to the CM for resolving the matter through dialogue and positive initiative, and invited him to Banchaura for the foundation-laying ceremony of development works.
Chauhan noted that the 17-day struggle symbolised the unity, patience and determination of Banchaura residents to raise their voice for their rights. He said that while the protest has ended, the hope and effort continue, and he is confident that the five demands will be acted upon promptly and development will be visible on the ground. He emphasised that the development of the region, the rights of the people and the voice of public interest remain the highest priority for the BJP. He added that the CM has never disappointed the people of Yamunotri and has consistently fulfilled his promises.
The delegation included Jagveer Singh Rawat, secretary of Dashgi Hatad Bisht Patti Sangharsh Samiti, district panchayat member Dipendra Kohli, block president of the Pradhan Sangathan Chinyalisaur Akveer Singh Rana, Indrapal Singh Rana, Brahmanand Mishra, senior BJP leader Shripal Chauhan, Vijay Badauni, Jayprakash Bhatt, former block chief Dr Shailendra Kohli, Anoj Bhatt, gram pradhan of Morgi, Nitish Ramola, Bipin Rana and Manveer Mahant.
