Dehradun, 5 Sep: Well known short story writer in Hindi, Kusum Bhatt was felicitated today with the ‘Aarambh’ honour at a ceremony where the magazine Aarambh was also launched. The event, held at a hotel near Rispana, was presided over by Professor Dr. DR Purohit, who said the magazine would provide a platform for writers and encourage new literary expression. Nandkishore Hatwal remarked that it is heartening to see Ishaan Purohit, essentially a scientist, showing keen interest in literature.
Chief guest Ganesh Khugshal Gani observed that the publication of Aarambh offers an opportunity to understand Hindi and regional languages together. Accepting the honour conferred upon her, Kusum Bhatt said that while writing the focus should only be on producing good work, as the society itself evaluates it.
Earlier, Kanta Ghildiyal read out the introduction, while Jyotsna Joshi conducted the proceedings.
Following the felicitation, a poetry session was also organised in which Madan Mohan Duklan, Kanta Ghildiyal, Beena Benjwal, Madhurvadini Tiwari, Nandan Rana Naval, Kavita Bhatt, Beliram Kanswal and Nikki Pushkar recited their poems. Among those present on the occasion included Yogesh Dhasmana, Om Prakash Jamloki, Gunjan Purohit, Satyanand Badoni, Girish Sundariyal, Anil Negi and Ramakant Benzwal among others.
