Dehradun, 5 Sep: Students from Leh, Ladakh, who are on a National Integration Tour under Operation Sadbhavana, met Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), Governor of Uttarakhand, at Lok Bhavan on Saturday. The tour is being organised by 129 SATA Regiment, Dhanushdhari Artillery Brigade, under the aegis of the Fire and Fury Corps. As part of the tour, the students are getting an opportunity to interact with prominent institutions and personalities from different fields. During their visit, they will also tour prestigious institutions including the Forest Research Institute (FRI) and the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun.
Addressing the students on the occasion, the Governor said that a National Integration Tour is not merely a journey to visit different places, but an opportunity to know, understand and connect with India. He said that the languages, food habits and cultures of Ladakh, Uttarakhand and other parts of the country may be different, but the Tricolour and the sense of pride in the nation unites everyone. This, he said, is the essence of India’s unity in diversity.
Lt Gen Singh urged the students to meet people during the tour, understand their culture and way of life, and share their experiences with their families, friends and schoolmates after returning to Leh. He said that they should return as ambassadors of national unity.
The Governor called upon the students to dream big and move forward with hard work, discipline and determination. He said that one’s place of birth provides identity and roots, but does not define one’s limits. He encouraged the students to learn resilience from the mountains of Ladakh and to view failure not as an end, but as an opportunity to move forward.
The Governor further urged the students not to limit their dreams. He said that with education, self-confidence and courage, they can create their own identity in life. Wishing the students a bright future, the Governor said that today’s students will become the responsible citizens and nation-builders of tomorrow. He expressed confidence that the tour would serve as a source of new learning, experiences and inspiration for the students.
