Dehradun, 8 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has extended his greetings to the people of Uttarakhand on the occasion of Himalaya Day. In a message issued on the occasion, the CM emphasised that the Himalayas are not merely a mountain range but the very foundation of identity, culture and existence. He said that since ancient times, the Himalayas have been the land of penance for sages, saints and thinkers, and they continue to hold immense significance for society.
Stressing upon the need for social development in Himalayan regions, Dhami insisted that the progress must be achieved by maintaining harmony between ecology and economy. He added that preserving the beauty and biodiversity of the Himalayas for future generations is a collective responsibility, as the Himalayas are intrinsically linked to human life and its conservation is a duty for all.
Stressing on the importance of public participation in conservation, the CM said that festivals such as Harela reflect the farsighted vision of ancestors in connecting people with nature. He reiterated that safeguarding the Himalayas from the impact of climate change is a responsibility that must be shared by every citizen.
