Dehradun, 12 Sep: The long standing demand for a bridge over the Ramganga river linking the block headquarters with the district headquarters has finally been fulfilled, bringing joy to local residents and public representatives. The announcement of the construction of the Amla Ghat bridge has been welcomed with gratitude towards Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Govardhan Pant, whose persistent efforts at the government level ensured the project’s approval. It may be recalled that Govardhan Pant is a well known newspaper hawker in Dehradun and also distributes newspapers inside the Uttarakhand Secretariat for a long time now. He has been pursuing the approval of this bridge.
Amla Ghat is located in the Pithoragarh district. Citizens said that the bridge and the road will prove to be a milestone for the region’s social and economic development. The new connectivity will significantly reduce the distance between the block and district headquarters, and at the same time will also improve access to important sites such as Hat Kalika temple and the Patal Bhuvaneshwar tourist destination. The route is expected to enhance trade opportunities, reduce travel time and cut transport costs, thereby benefiting local businesses and farmers.
The project has also received strong support from MLA Fakir Ram Tamta, whose contribution was instrumental in bringing the road network into existence. The residents believe the improved infrastructure will ease daily travel for commuters, students and patients, while providing a boost to the distribution of agricultural produce and other local goods.
