Mussoorie, 15 Sep: Activities by student organisations in Mussoorie are intensifying in anticipation of the upcoming student union elections. As part of this process, NSUI Uttarakhand has appointed Akshat Rawat as the Mussoorie Assembly Constituency President to strengthen the organisation. State President Vikas Negi issued the appointment letter on September 13, entrusting him with this new responsibility.
Upon assuming the role, Akshat Rawat stated that his primary goal would be to vigorously raise the concerns of Mussoorie’s students and effectively highlight issues related to student welfare at the college level through the organisation. He emphasised that NSUI is not merely an organisation that contests elections but one that constantly fights to resolve students’ problems. Rawat added that the organisation would be strengthened at the grassroots level for the upcoming elections, with efforts made to bring as many students as possible into the NSUI fold. Priority will be given to issues such as the quality of education, student amenities, scholarships, employment, and matters concerning the youth. He noted that by fostering dialogue with students, their genuine problems would be understood, and if necessary, agitations would be launched to resolve them.
Observing that a large number of young people are pursuing higher education in Mussoorie’s colleges, he asserted that the objective of student politics should not be merely to secure a position, but to responsibly voice the students’ concerns. He pledged to work in unison with all organisational activists on issues concerning student welfare.
Akshat Rawat’s appointment is also being viewed in the context of preparations for the upcoming student union elections. Student politics at MPG College, Mussoorie, has long been a battleground for competition among various student organisations. Consequently, NSUI’s move to assign a new responsibility at the assembly level is expected to accelerate the organisation’s electoral activities. Rawat stated that winning the students’ trust would be his priority and that the campaign would focus on key issues and student welfare. He added that a strong team would be built by entrusting responsibilities to young people and new activists within the organisation.
In the appointment letter, NSUI State President Vikas Negi expressed the hope that Akshat Rawat would work with complete dedication towards strengthening the organisation, protecting student interests, and empowering young leadership. Following the appointment, supporters and party workers congratulated Akshat Rawat.
