Cultural, Literary Events foster Creativity: Prof Surekha Dangwal

Dehradun, 22 Sep: Doon University’s Elysian Literary Society, Department of English, School of Languages, in collaboration with the Cultural Committee, organised a thought-provoking film screening and discussion event, titled “Haider vis-à-vis Hamlet”, as part of their weekly event series called Creative Rendezvous. The event, held recently, witnessed an impressive turnout from, both, students and faculty members.

With a total of 200 enthusiastic participants, the event proved to be a stimulating platform for exploring the intricate connections between film and literature. Attendees had the opportunity to delve into the nuances of storytelling, symbolism and interpretation as portrayed in the context of the renowned play “Hamlet” and its Bollywood adaptation “Haider”.

The film screening and discussion event left a lasting impact on all attendees, fostering a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of film and literature.

Vice Chancellor Prof SurekhaDangwal was present at the event and acknowledged the importance of such intellectual endeavours. She awarded prizes to the deserving winners of the Varta event, organised by the State Higher Education Department.

Dr Chetana Pokhriyal, the Convenor of the Cultural Committee, also attended the event. Her insightful observations and expertise contributed to the overall success of the event. The event was attended by Guest Faculty Dr Gazala Khan and Dr Aditi Bisht.
