Dehradun, 28 Nov: The Kasiga Literature Festival continued today with a workshop for students of grades 9 to 12, featuring acclaimed writer and multi-faceted artist Maanas Lal.

Maanas Lal, a young luminary in the literary world, has garnered widespread recognition for his contributions across various art forms. Known for his diverse talents, Lal has penned numerous columns for print media and is the co-author of bestselling books such as ‘Murder in the Bylanes: Life and Death in a Divided City’ and ‘On the Trail of Thugs and Thieves: True Accounts of Crime from the Hindi Heartland’. Both these literary works have consistently secured top positions on best-seller charts since their release.

Notably, several of Lal’s upcoming books have already been acquired for screen adaptations by leading production houses, attesting to the widespread appeal of his storytelling prowess.

Beyond the realm of literature, Maanas Lal has made a mark in the fields of painting, photography, and digital art. As a software engineer, he has seamlessly integrated his technological expertise into developing a distinctive style of digital painting. His artistic endeavours have gained recognition globally, with collectors spanning football icon Baichung Bhutia to British parliamentarian and Chancellor of Birmingham University, Lord Karan Bilimoria, and National Spokesperson of the Indian National Congress, Randeep Singh Surjewala.

The workshop provided a unique insight into Lal’s creative process and the intersection of technology and art. Students had the opportunity to engage with the author, gaining valuable insights into the world of literature and creative expression.

In addition to the workshop for grades 9 to 12, an exciting session on creative writing and storytelling by Anubha, a renowned storyteller, voice-over artist, and education consultant,    captivated the imagination of students in grades 4 to 8.

The festival, with its diverse array of events, continues to foster a love for literature and the arts among the younger generation.

Adding an international flair to the festival, special online sessions for students were conducted by Gema Del Socorro Garcia Tapia, Spanish teacher at Kodaikanal International School, on 27 November. Today featured another enlightening session by Alvaro Duran, who is currently the Spanish teacher at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai, further diversifying the linguistic and cultural offerings of the festival.
