Jakhnidhar car accident case: CM orders suspension of ABDO

Dehradun, 25 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed deep grief at the accident in Tehri that occurred on Monday and prayed for the peace of the departed souls.

In addition, taking serious note of the tragic incident, the Chief Minister directed the Commissioner of Rural Development to suspend Devi Prasad Chamoli, Assistant Block Development Officer of Jakhnidhar in district Tehri, who was driving the vehicle, with immediate effect.

It may be recalled that Chamoli had run over 3 persons on Monday while driving in a drunken state, resulting in their deaths.

Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, Devi Prasad Chamoli has been suspended with immediate effect for moral turpitude and criminal charges mentioned in the Uttarakhand Government Servant Discipline and Appeal Rules. The suspension order has been issued by Rural Development Commissioner of the state Savin Bansal (IAS).

Meanwhile, Tehri Police has reported that a case has been registered against DP Chamoli under Sections 304, 279 and 337 of the IPC. Immediately after the incident, the police had taken the accused into custody, who was produced in court today. The court has sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
