BJP observes Black Day in memory of Emergency

Dehradun, 25 Jun: BJP today observed today (25 June) as a black day across the state in memory of the Emergency that had been imposed 49 years ago by the Congress government.
In his message on this occasion, State President Mahendra Bhatt said it is important to always remember the memories of the attempts to murder democracy as well as those who had bravely agitated and struggled against the state of emergency. Bhatt said that it is ironic that those who had imposed the Emergency across the country are today trying to mislead the people by claiming that Narendra Modi Government was trying to kill the constitution. He added that the Emergency that had been imposed in the country four decades ago is in fact a mirror for those who are claiming now that the Constitution is in danger.
Bhatt asserted that today India is the world’s largest and strongest democracy. But one must not forget that there was a period of emergency in the country when the then Congress government had committed the sin of crushing democracy and constitutional rights of the people and the Opposition leaders. He added that Indians of the present and future generations should also remember the atrocities that took place during this period and those who fought against the atrocities. At the same time, he targeted the Congress that those whose hands are stained with the murder of democracy are making false claims of saving democracy. The real face of those who spread the fake propaganda that the Constitution is in danger is revealed before the public every year on 25 June.
State media in-charge Manveer Chauhan stated that programmes were organised in all the districts in this regard. The dark history of the Emergency was discussed in detail through seminars and press conferences. Also, MISA prisoners were contacted and honoured by the BJP and their experiences were shared.
He added that the country knows that the Emergency was imposed by the Congress government on 25 June, 1975. During this time, democracy was murdered, human rights were violated and various types of atrocities were committed on the people. This is the reason why this day is known as a black day in the history of the country.
