Mussoorie, 4 Aug: The two-day ‘18th Manorite Invitational Table Tennis Tournament’ commenced at St George’s College, here, on 3 August. A total number of 13 schools from Dehradun, Mussoorie and Rishikesh including 124 players participated in the tournament. The tournament was conducted in three different categories for both Boys and Girls i.e. Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19.

The Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony, today, was Brother Babu Varghese (Superior, St George’s College, Mussoorie), who felicitated the winners.

The students of The Doon School, Dehradun, Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun, Welham Girls’ School, Dehradun, Wynberg Allen School, Mussoorie, Unison World School, Dehradun, The TonsBridge School, Dehradun, The Heritage School, Dehradun, The Aryan School, Dehradun, Him Jyoti School, Dehradun, Woodstock School, Mussoorie, Oak Grove School, Mussoorie, Maa Anandmayee Memorial School, Rishikesh, and St George’s College participated in the tournament.
The winners in the various categories were:
In the finals of the Under-14 Boys Category, Krishnav Gupta of The Doon School defeated Uday Rana of The Doon School by 3-0. In the finals of the Under-16 Boys Category, Krishnav Gupta of The Doon School defeated Tanmay Aggarwal of St George’s College by 3-1. In the finals of the Under-19 Boys Category, Aditya Dungarpur of The Doon School defeated Tanmay Aggarwal of St George’s College by 3-2. In the finals of the Boys Doubles (Open Category), Tanmay and Shlok of St George’s College defeated Aditya and Shridhar of The Doon School by 3-2.

In the finals of the Under-14 Girls Category, Ojasvi of Welham Girls’ School defeated Advika of Welham Girls’ School by 3-2. In the finals of the Under-16 Girls Category, Shyla of Welham Girls’ School defeated Shriya of Him Jyoti School by 3-1. In the finals of the Under-19 Girls Category, Manya Gupta of Welham Girls’ School defeated Sakshi Chadda of Him Jyoti School by 3-0. In the finals of the Girls Doubles (Open Category), Anshika and Rekha of Him Jyoti School defeated Shyla and Tanisha of Welham Girls’ School by 3-2.
The two-day ‘18th Manorite Invitational Table Tennis Tournament’ was successfully conducted under the supervision of Brother Ramesh Amalanathan (Principal St George’s College), Brother Felix Kumar (Vice-Principal & Sports Secretary, St George’s College), Anand Thapa (Sports Coordinator, St George’s College), Ramesh Chamoli (Table Tennis Coach, St George’s College) and the members of the Sports Department.
