Dehradun 24 Oct: Kamaluddin, a resident of Jaspur town in district Udham Singh Nagar, has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl from the Hindu community in Chaukhutia area of Almora district. He was working as a guest teacher in a government school in Chaukhutia and he allegedly kidnapped a 17-year-old girl student of the same school and raped her.
On receiving the complaint in this regard from the victim’s family, the police swung into action and managed to arrest the accused. Kamaluddin has been sent to jail after registering a case under Section 5/6 of the POCSO Act for rape and under sections 64A/87 of BNS.
SP Devendra Pincha stated that the victim’s father had reported her disappearance and filed a complaint against the accused Kamaluddin. The girl’s father informed the Police that his daughter had gone to the market and did not return home. However, some of his acquaintances informed him that they had seen her on a bike with Kamaluddin. After taking the accused into custody, a case has been registered under serious sections based on the girl’s statements and the victim has also been medically examined. The locals claim that the girl has levelled serious charges against the accused based on which the Police are investigating the matter. It is reported that the villagers had caught the accused and had beaten him up before handing him over to the Police. The incident has reportedly enraged the local people in the area and this has led to communal tension. To prevent any untoward incident, a heavy police force has been deployed in the area.
