Haridwar, 20 Nov: On the occasion of the Dev Dolyas and Musical Instruments’ Convergence Programme at Dev Sanskriti University, Shanti Kunj, here, Speaker of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, was the chief guest. The programme began with a joint lighting of the ceremonial lamp and offering of floral tributes by the Chief Guest, Speaker Bhushan, Dr Chinmoy Pandya, Vice Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti University, and Swami Shri Gyanand Maharaj.
In her address, the Speaker recalled the contributions of Acharya Shri Ram Sharma and Mata Bhagwati Devi, stating, “The tree planted by Acharyaji has now become a banyan tree, fulfilling his vision of transforming the nation through the creation of a new era. The academic programmes at Dev Sanskriti University integrate all aspects of national ethics, intellect, society, and science, while also teaching management.”
Khanduri Bhushan further emphasised, “Uttarakhand’s folk culture and traditions are rich with unique characteristics. Dev Dolyas, Dev Jatra, and Devara Yatra are ancient traditions that have been an integral part of the religious and mythological culture of Uttarakhand. These customs not only symbolise the faith and beliefs of the people but also play a significant role in uniting society.”
The Speaker praised the initiative taken by Dev Sanskriti University to organise such an event, noting that Uttarakhand’s ancient knowledge traditions hold significant value in the region’s folk life and culture. The procession of Dev Dolyas, celebrations of major festivals, and various rituals have always been an essential part of the region’s spiritual practices.
She expressed gratitude to Dr Chinmoy Pandya, Vice Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti University, for organising the programme and applauded the university’s efforts to preserve Indian culture and traditions.
The event was attended by all the faculty and students of Dev Sanskriti University, along with the key members of Shanti Kunj.
