Dehradun, 24 Nov: The 2nd Sardarni Kawaljeet Kaur Memorial Basketball Tournament, hosted by Ecole Globale International Girls’ School, came to a thrilling conclusion here, today, following five days of intense competition. The event, which began on 20 November, was inaugurated by Captain Pawan Kumar Mittal and saw the participation of 9 schools.
Wynberg Allen emerged as the overall champions, with Ecole Globale claiming the runner-up position and Acharyakulam, Haridwar, securing second runner-up honours. Individual performances were exceptional, with Hiranya from Wynberg Allen being named the Most Valuable Player. Ruby from Springdales earned Best Shooter, Ashmin from Ecole Globale was recognised as Best Defender, and Ridhimna from Ecole was awarded Most Promising Player. Ridhima from Acharya Kulam was named Best Rookie.
Present at the closing ceremony was Omkar Singh, a renowned basketball coach with over 20 years of experience, who praised the athletes and highlighted the need for more tournaments for women. “We need more platforms like this to empower young women in sports,” he stated, urging greater recognition and opportunities for female athletes.
