Centre approves assistance of Rs 100 crores for tourism development in Rishikesh

CM expresses gratitude to Centre for aid

Dehradun, 27 Nov: The Union Finance Ministry has approved an amount of Rs 100 crores as grant for tourism development in Rishikesh. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for releasing a special loan (assistance) of Rs 66 crores to Uttarakhand under the ‘Special Assistance to State for Capital Investment 2024-25 Scheme’ on behalf of the Central Government. This amount has been released as the first instalment.

It may be recalled that, in all, the Union Government has approved a total of Rs 100 crores under the scheme for various projects of the Tourism Department in the pilgrimage town of Rishikesh, of which Rs 66 crores have been released as the first instalment. The remaining Rs 34 crore will be released as the second instalment upon spending up to 75 percent of the first phase assistance.

Official sources have claimed that CM Dhami had been striving for this special financial assistance for a long time and had also discussed it with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a recent interaction. Expressing his gratitude to the central government for this support, Dhami observed that, with the financial assistance received, the government will develop Rishikesh as a better tourist city.
