Doon International Junior Wing holds 31st Annual Sports Day

Dehradun, 10 Dec: The Doon International School, Junior School, hosted its 31st Annual Sports Day on 8 December.

The event commenced with a mellifluous welcome song performed by the students of Grades 3, 4, and 5. The welcome address was delivered by the Managing Director, Gagan Jyot Mann. The Chief Guest on the occasion, Jai Raj, fFormer PCCF and Head of Forest Force (HOFF), Uttarakhand, declared the Sports Meet open. This was followed by the school captains taking the ceremonial oath on behalf of all the participants, promising fairness and dedication.

The events ranged from thrilling sprints and relays to creatively themed races such as the Little Chefs Go Shopping, Get Ready for School Race, King and Queen Race, Obstacles Race, Hoola Hoops Race, and Water Cycle Race, which added a touch of uniqueness to the event. The youngest participants from Nursery and Kindergarten displayed their remarkable zest in races like Pop Up the Balloons, Garland Race, Rabbit and Carrot Race, Alphabets Race, and Flower & Butterfly Race, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. Students of grades 1 and 2 showcased their enthusiasm and teamwork by participating in a series of exciting races, including the Balancing the Ball Race, Turban Race, 3-Legged Race, and Pyramid Race.

The winners in the Sprints for Grades 4 and 5 were Amayra Devli, Adwik Sharma, Mitakshra Anand Bisht, and Arsh Ali. The Shuttle Relay Race (4×80) for Boys and Girls in Grades 4 and 5 was closely contested. The winners were awarded medals and certificates. Special awards for excellence in different sports were awarded to Bani Bhatt, Grade 3, Sanskriti Bisht, Grade 3, Manraj Singh, Grade 3, Paarth Singh Bohra, Grade 1, and Nivedita Semwal. Grade 1.

Grades 1 and 2 captivated the crowd with a vibrant Balloon PT Display. One of the highlights was the dazzling Dupatta PT Display by Grades 3, 4, and 5—a mesmerising performance that blended rhythm and coordination like a symphony in motion. The Taekwondo Show by the DIS junior boarders left the audience awestruck, showcasing precision and discipline akin to a well-rehearsed masterpiece. The parents’ race highlighted the true spirit of togetherness and energy.

The competition was fierce yet friendly, and the House Trophy was ultimately clinched by Akbar House. The event concluded with a Grand Finale Dance -‘Kala Sangam’, a vibrant and colorful display of unity and celebration.

The Chief Guest, Jai Raj, addressed the students with inspiring words about the values of sportsmanship and perseverance and emphasised the importance of physical fitness as a cornerstone of holistic development. This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony, Vote of Thanks and the National Anthem bringing the sports meet to a memorable close.
