By Our Staff Reporter
New Delhi, 13 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the India Economic Conclave here today where he spoke about Uttarakhand’s strides in development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The CM expressed pride in the state’s contributions toward making India a global leader, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision.
Dhami reminded that Prime Minister Modi, during his visit to Kedarnath, had declared the third decade of the 21st century as “Uttarakhand’s Decade.” He claimed that inspired by this statement, the state government is working tirelessly to fulfil the vision. The state has set an ambitious target to double its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) within the next five years.
The CM also asserted that Uttarakhand has already achieved significant milestones, securing the top position in NITI Aayog’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) index. Additionally, the unemployment rate has decreased by 4.4 percent, reflecting a positive trend in job creation and economic stability.
Discussing infrastructure projects, Dhami asserted that the under-construction Delhi-Dehradun elevated road, would reduce the travel time between the two cities to just two and a half hours. He also noted the state’s resilience in tourism despite challenges. He added that though the Char Dham Yatra was reduced by 35 days this year due to natural disasters, 46 lakh devotees still visited the state. Plans are underway to further develop tourist destinations to attract more visitors in the future. The Chief Minister also lauded the reconstruction of Kedarnath Dham under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi. He stated that the grand and divine Kedarnath stands as a testament to his commitment. Dhami credited the Prime Minister’s leadership for the BJP’s success in the recent Kedarnath by-election.
Dhami assured strict action against those violating land-related laws in the state. He emphasised that in case, land is not utilised for its intended purpose, the government would take corrective measures. At the same time, the state is encouraging businesses that adhere to regulations and create employment opportunities.
Dhami also spoke about the concept of a winter pilgrimage in the state and extended an invitation to attendees to experience Uttarakhand’s beauty and spiritual significance. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state soon. He also asserted Uttarakhand’s pivotal role in the nation’s progress, stating that the state remains committed to continuous development and its mission of becoming a model for sustainable growth in India.
