Dehradun, 21 Dec: In a decisive move, District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal has taken a strict action against rule violations by forcefully relieving a Municipal Health Officer from his post in the Mussoorie Municipal Council.
It has been informed by the District Administration that the officer concerned had been serving in Mussoorie without proper authorisation or the creation of the requisite post since 2021. The DM directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to ensure that the officer concerned reports back to their original post within three days. Bansal also warned that failure to comply would result in service disruption being marked in the service book, and the officer’s salary would remain withheld until further orders.
It has been further claimed that the disciplinary action has been taken in response to various complaints received about the officer‘s questionable working style. Allegations include creating hindrances in the division of work among officials during civic elections and harassment of the public. Additionally, the officer’s conduct raised concerns with the SDM and Administrator of the Mussoorie Municipal Council, particularly regarding interference in election-related tasks. The DM’s office has emphasised that strict adherence to rules is crucial, especially during civic elections. It has been claimed that the Municipal Health Officer’s unauthorised tenure and alleged misconduct prompted this firm action to ensure efficient functioning of municipal governance and public service in Mussoorie.
