Dehradun, 10 Jan: This year’s Youth Day programme, to be held on Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary, is set to be special. Thousands of volunteers who have registered for the National Games will also be a part of the event. On this occasion, the volunteers will be introduced to their responsibilities, and other performances will take place.

The National Youth Day programme will be organised at the Golapar Sports Complex in Haldwani this year. The event will be attended by former Governor and Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari, MP Ajay Bhatt, and Sports Minister Rekha Arya. During the event, both men’s and women’s races will be held at the Golapar Sports Complex. Additionally, a group folk dance and artistic yoga performance will take place. Sports Minister Rekha Arya will interact with the volunteers registered for the National Games, explain their responsibilities, and distribute certificates to them.

Sports Minister Rekha Arya mentioned that, in line with the spirit of Green Games, a cleanliness drive will also be organised at the sports complex. Additionally, the Swami Vivekananda State-Level Youth Award 2024-25 will be distributed during the event.

Sports Minister Rekha Arya also shared that during the upcoming National Games, all players, coaches, supporting staff, and spectators will be encouraged to collect and recycle empty mineral water bottles. These bottles will be repurposed into benches and chairs for use in parks and other public spaces. The organisation responsible for this task will also be invited to demonstrate this process during the Youth Day event.

Minister Rekha Arya emphasised that this year’s Youth Day programme is being linked to the National Games because there is no better way to inspire youth than through the life philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. The registered volunteers will be the core part of this year’s event.
