BJP releases ambitious manifestos for 11 Municipal Corporations

Dehradun, 15 Jan: The BJP today released its Sankalp Patra (manifesto) for 11 municipal corporations of Uttarakhand including Dehradun, Haldwani, Haridwar, Kashipur, Rudrapur, Roorkee, Rishikesh, Kotdwar, Pithoragarh, and Srinagar. Releasing the manifestos, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasised the importance of municipal corporations for the development of urban areas. Separate manifestos have been released for all 11 municipal corporations to address their unique challenges with a promise that development work will be carried out with resolve in all the corporations after winning the elections. Significant promises have been made in the manifestos to the people of all the municipal corporations.

Exemptions in property tax, cycle tracks and better public transport for Dehradun

BJP has promised to launch an online licence process, and cent percent door-to-door garbage collection from homes. It has also promised to establish a Dehradun Waste Exchange and to develop public parks, open gyms, and plant trees along the roads as a green ward. The BJP has also promised to establish EV infrastructure with a 100 percent carbon-neutral transport system, improve road conditions, cycle tracks, and install smart electricity poles, promote homestays. It has also promised property tax exemptions, and promotion of trade tourism through convention centre exhibitions, create a heritage circuit with city rides in Dehradun, develop a mini lake and relaxation centre on ITBP road, provide additional discounts on property tax for new areas included in Dehradun Municipal Corporation besides promising to resolve land issues in Chandrabani ward. The party has also promised better public transportation and upgraded bus stops, with automated updating of bus timings and routes on digital boards, and to provide mobile charging points and Wi-Fi facilities. The BJP has also promised redevelopment of slums under Mission Sarva Awas and to equip Dehradun Municipal Corporation with CCTVs, develop a real-time parking guiding system and multilevel parking facilities.

Better sanitation, parking management and urban services promised for Haridwar

The BJP has promised to organise the annual Sanatan Film Festival with modern essential facilities, increase the number of vehicles for garbage collection by upgrading the garbage management system in Haridwar. It has also promised to set up a waste energy plant to generate electricity from waste, provide the Nigam Connect App to improve the safety and lifestyle of citizens, operate My City Suvidha Kendra, construct a real-time parking guidance system and multi-level parking, simplify the cleaning licensing process and provide house tax, electricity, and water services.

Smart traffic monitoring promised in Haldwani

BJP’s promises for Haldwani Municipal Corporation include implementation of a smart signal intelligent traffic monitoring system, construction of parking spaces with a smart parking system at prominent places, construction of a multipurpose hall in Haldwani tehsil, including an administrative block and modern bus stand. The party has also promised property tax exemptions on homestays, organising an annual flower show, widening of main roads, including Nainital Road and Kaladhungi Road, develop underground cabling and drainage systems and constitution of a committee to address the problem of encroachment in the city. The BJP has also promised upgrading of study centres and government libraries, and provision of free coaching in city schools, strengthening of rainwater harvesting and water pipeline networks, expansion of gas pipeline network, regular cleaning of drains, and increasing the greenery in the city besides construction of a cowshed and a veterinary hospital for cattle and to introduce the Jatayu Super Vacuum Cleaning Machine in the city.

Similarly separate manifestos have been released for other municipal corporations like Kashipur, Kashipur, Rudrapur, Roorkee, Rishikesh, Kotdwar, Pithoragarh, and Srinagar.
