U’khand clinches Silver in Handball at National Games

Dehradun, 31 Jan: Uttarakhand secured the silver medal after a hard-fought battle in the thrilling final of the men’s beach handball event at the 38th National Games being played in the state. The team narrowly lost to Services with a 2-1 scoreline in the final match.

The match, played on the sand courts of Shivpuri, Tehri, saw Uttarakhand take an early lead by winning the first set 21-18. However, Services staged a strong comeback in the second set, winning 17-11 and pushing the match into a tense shootout. In the decisive shootout, Services edged out Uttarakhand 5-4 to clinch the Gold Medal.

Sumit delivered a stellar performance for Uttarakhand, scoring a total of 14 goals. His outstanding play kept the team competitive throughout the match, showcasing Uttarakhand’s resilience and skill during the entire match.

With this silver, Uttarakhand’s medal tally at the ongoing National Games has reached Nine. This includes One Gold (Wushu), Two Silver (one in Wushu and one in Beach Handball), and six bronze (Wushu).
