PM’s Harsil-Mukhba visit will boost winter tourism in region: Dhami

Uttarkashi, 24 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today visited Harisil and Mukhba in district Uttarkashi ahead of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit and night stay here. Dhami was here to assess the preparations for Modi’s visit.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM asserted that the arrival of PM Narendra Modi in the Harsil-Mukhba area will significantly boost winter tourism in Uttarakhand and greatly contribute to the state’s prosperity. He also asserted that the entire Uttarakhand, along with the Harsil-Mukhba area, is fully prepared to welcome the Prime Minister.

Dhami visited the Harshil-Mukhba area today, accompanied by Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Secretary, Tourism, Sachin Kurve, ADG V Murugeshan, and other senior officials, to inspect the preparations for the Prime Minister’s proposed visit. During this visit, Dhami highlighted the picturesque natural beauty of Harsil-Mukhba and claimed that this visit will be promoted globally, attracting a large number of devotees and tourists to the state. He added that Modi’s visit will also contribute significantly to the state’s prosperity.

Dhami remarked that Prime Minister Modi’s visits are always auspicious for Uttarakhand. He also noted that after the PM’s visits to Kedarnath Dham, Mana, and Adi Kailash, the number of devotees and tourists to these places increased significantly. Similarly, Modi’s presence at the Investors Summit also led to the signing of MoUs for capital investment worth Rs 3.5 lakh crores in the state, with projects of over Rs 80,000 crores already grounded. The inauguration of the National Games by the Prime Minister also proved fortunate for Uttarakhand, earning Devbhoomi the reputation of Khel Bhoomi. The CM added that Uttarakhand has made a significant leap, achieving the seventh position in the National Games, compared to the twenty-fifth position previously.

During his field inspection, Dhami reviewed all the arrangements from Harsil to Mukhba for the PM’s proposed visit. He directed officials to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place to make Modi’s visit memorable and well-organised. Dhami inspected the pandal, stage, and exhibition site being prepared for the proposed public meeting in Harsil and called for special arrangements to showcase the local culture and traditional heritage during the Prime Minister’s programme, strengthening the state’s rich tourism.

The CM also visited Mukhba village, the winter residence of Goddess Ganga and prayed at the Ganga temple there for the region’s and state’s prosperity.

District Magistrate Dr Meherban Singh Bisht provided information about the arrangements being made for the PM’s proposed visit. He mentioned preparations for an exhibition based on the state’s winter tourist destinations and local products and handicrafts. To encourage adventure tourism activities in the untouched and wonderful tourist spots of the border area of Uttarkashi district, preparations have been made to flag off motorbike and ATV-RTV rallies up to Jadung, PDA, and trekking expeditions to Janaktal and Mulingla.

On this occasion, MLA Suresh Chauhan, SP Sarita Dobal, CDO SL Semwal, ADM PL Shah, DFO DP Baluni, Superintending Engineer, PWD, Harish Pangti, and officers from various departments were also present.
