Haridwar, 25 Mar: Despite strong criticism from a section of the Muslim Community and the Opposition, the government has continued its crackdown on illegal madrasas. The Haridwar district administration sealed six more such institutions late last evening. Acting on the directives of the Dhami government, action is being taken against unauthorised madrasas operating across the state.

In the Manglaur area of Haridwar, a team of the district administration reached locations like Lal Bara, Tanda Bhandeda, Mundlala, Akbarpur and Dhadhenki in Manglaur assembly constituency and sealed six unregistered madrasas.

With this action, the total number of illegal madrasas sealed in Haridwar district has reached 30, while 146 have been sealed across Uttarakhand.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has reiterated the government’s firm stance on illegal activities, stating that any unauthorised entity would face strict action. Dhami has further announced plans to investigate the sources of funding for these illegally operated madrasas. He has once again clarified that no registered madrasas have been targeted, and the administration is focusing solely on unregistered institutions.
