Haridwar, 25 Mar: A seven-day long International Yoga Festival was held at Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh.
Haridwar based English writer, philosopher, thinker and journalist Dr Radhika Nagrath was honoured for her international contribution in the field of yoga. She was honoured by Parmarth Niketan President Swami Chidanand Saraswati and Sadhvi Bhagwati by presenting her with a shawl and garland. She was praised profusely for spreading the word of yoga and Indian culture in the country and abroad.
Dr Radhika Nagrath, in the morning sessions for two consecutive days at the International Yoga Festival, threw light on the importance of yoga asanas in strengthening the skeletal system of the human body and the treatment of lifestyle diseases through Ashtanga Yoga. In the yoga class, Radhika Nagrath made the yoga learners from different countries practice musical yoga asanas and pranayama. Yogacharya Shruti Pant explained in detail how one can get relief from stress through Yoga Nidra.
Foreign devotees enjoyed yoga jogging a lot. Yogacharya Bhavana Bharadwaj taught many tricks for strengthening the body through Garbhasana. Dr Radhika Nagrath has been teaching yoga to learners from India and abroad on the occasion of the International Yoga Festival at Parmarth Niketan Rishikesh for the past decade and tells them about its importance. Apart from this, Dr Nagrath goes every year to countries like America, England, Canada, Germany, etc., to deliver lectures on yoga and Indian culture in various international universities. Last year, she gave a lecture at a big educational and social institute in Canada.
