Dehradun, 8 Apr: Sardar Bhagwan Singh University (SBSU) organised a thought-provoking guest lecture titled “Indic Saints on Leadership, Ethics, and Purpose”, delivered by Amardeep Singh, Founder and Managing Director of Lost Heritage Productions. The event was part of SBSU’s ongoing efforts to blend academic pursuits with timeless wisdom and holistic development.

Lost Heritage Productions, based in Singapore, is widely recognised for its work in documenting the forgotten legacies of the Sikh community, particularly in regions that now form part of Pakistan. Singh, a former global corporate executive turned visual ethnographic researcher, shared his unique insights into the teachings of Indic saints and their relevance to contemporary leadership and ethical challenges.

The session captivated students, faculty, and professionals alike as Singh drew upon the lives of revered Indic saints to illustrate how leadership, rather than being a pursuit of authority or dominance, is fundamentally about selfless service, inner strength, and the ability to uplift others. “Leadership can embody compassion and love for all beings, regardless of their background or beliefs. True leadership is rooted in confidence, inner strength, and a dedication to uplifting others,” he emphasised.

Prof. (Dr.) J. Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, SBSU, lauded the lecture as deeply thought-provoking and enriching.

He praised Amardeep Singh as a true harbinger of Oneness in Diversity, noting how powerfully he explored the teachings of Indic saints and elaborated on the sense of purpose, leadership, and ethics. Prof. Kumar reflected on the relevance of these values for the youth today, especially young professionals, and emphasizsed the importance of aligning high career goals with a higher sense of purpose. “Passion should be

created, not merely followed,” he added, inspiring students to become active seekers of meaningful and impactful lives.

The lecture encouraged introspection and a renewed commitment to values that transcend time and culture.

It was not only a scholarly reflection on Indic wisdom but also a call to action for individuals in leadership roles, organisations, and communities.

A vibrant Q&A session followed, allowing attendees to engage deeply with the subject. Participants raised questions about the practical application of these principles in today’s professional environments and how personal adversities can be addressed through the teachings of saints. Singh responded with clarity and compassion, reinforcing the importance of service, ethics, and purpose in everyday life.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Dr. Deepak Sahni (Registrar), Vipin Jain (Deputy Registrar, HR & Liaison), Lt. Col. R.P. Jugran (Deputy Registrar, Administration), Prof. Maneesh Arora (Dean Student Welfare), Urmi Chuarasia (Controller of Examinations), Prof. (Dr.) Veerma Ram (Director, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology), Zorawar Singh (Manager), Incharges, faculty members, and students. Also present were Octogenarian Lila, former Principal of Welham School and a revered teacher of Gurdeep Singh, as well as Capt. Ramnnek Kaur.
