CM flags off 23 vehicles for forest & wildlife protection

Dehradun, 16 Apr: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off 23 Bolero camper vehicles purchased by the Forest Department under the CAMPA scheme from his Camp Office here today. Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal was also present. These vehicles are expected to strengthen forest and wildlife protection efforts, with a focus on improving surveillance in sensitive forest areas. The Forest Department claims that these vehicles will also play a pivotal role in managing forest fires and addressing human-wildlife conflicts. In addition, they are also expected to facilitate rapid rescue operations and support monitoring of tree plantation drives and will also be indispensable during relief and rescue operations in forests and adjacent areas in the event of natural calamities like landslides or floods.

Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal reminded the gathering of the consistent increase in the CAMPA scheme’s budget over the past three years and also mentioned an allocation of Rs 237 crores in 2023-24 and Rs 302 crores in 2024-25. He also stated that an annual plan for 2025-26, amounting to Rs 439.50 crores, has been submitted to the Government of India for approval.

Among those present on the occasion included Principal Secretary Forests, RK Sudhanshu, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and HoFF Dhananjay Mohan, and other senior officials of the Forest Department.
