Dehradun, 16 Apr: The 10th Uttarakhand Sujok Festival was organised on Wednesday at the Raj Bhavan by the ‘Smile Sujok Foundation’. Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated in the event and honoured doctors who have made commendable contributions in the field of Sujok therapy on behalf of the foundation. The event was attended by Sujok medical experts, doctors, and several dignitaries from the healthcare sector from various regions.
In his address, the Governor stated that the festival is a meaningful effort toward raising public awareness about Sujok, an alternative medical system, and promoting innovation in the health sector. He emphasised that health is not merely the absence of disease, but a state of physical, mental, and social well-being, and Sujok therapy encourages this holistic view of health. The Governor added that Sujok, being a simple therapy, can provide cost-effective and efficient treatment to people.
The Governor further stated that Uttarakhand has a rich heritage of Ayurveda, Yoga, and natural healing traditions. In order to make the country and state self-reliant in healthcare, such alternative systems of medicine must be promoted—those that are affordable, accessible, effective, and rooted in scientific principles.
He also pointed out that in today’s fast-changing lifestyle and dietary habits, it is essential for every individual to maintain good health—not just for personal well-being but for the collective health of society. The festival, he said, is not just a platform to promote a single therapy, but it deeply embodies the spirit of holistic health—where treatment is natural, inclusive, and easily available to all, extending beyond hospitals and clinics.
On this occasion, the Governor appreciated Dr Subhash Chaudhary, President of the International Sujok Association (Uttarakhand), and the Smile Sujok Foundation for their dedicated public service. The event was also attended by First Lady Gurmeet Kaur, MLA Savita Kapoor, Secretary Deepak Kumar, Vice President of the International Sujok Association Ashok Kumar Kothari, Dr Pawan Wadhwan, Gurmeet Chaudhary, and several others.
